Default FoW farming with Heros discussion

I have seen numerous questions here and elsewhere regarding 3 Heroes in FoW for a 4 man run and really did not think it was possible until yesterday so never gave it much thought.

I was in a pug yesterday that was heading to the forge to get armor and as typical with pugs we had leavers. Two members were fighting with each other from the start and one raged left, the other one took off to farm the beach alone, by the time we got to the ghost for the forgemaster quest we were down to just four members.

It took us a while but we were able to do all the Forgemaster quests with only four of us, a Warrior, Monk, Ele and me a Rit setup to heal. The only problem we had was the mobs with two monks otherwise it was hard but doable via good pulls. We also got a lot of golds, purples, and shards while we were at it.

This got me thinking that it could be possible to actually farm a large portion of FoW in a 4-man , 1 human +3 Heroes. However before I start spending lots of plats testing team builds I thought In would kick it around here a bit first.

I am thinking a team like this would be best:

Monk
SF Ele or perhaps a Water ele with some slow down skills.
MM bomber

If you can generate enough minions to interrupt two monks in a two monk mob long enough to kill them this may work

or
Monk
SF Ele
interrupt ranger or interrupt mesmer.

This would interrupt dual monks but may not give enough firepower to take out the mobs

Sab's 3 necro team build may work as well the only problem would be mustering enough firepower to get it rolling.

What do the rest of you think?

I will try this later if this works i will be so happy because I hate having to leave a group because I don't have 3 hours kicking around to finish the Fow. So doing it on my own time would be great. I think the lack of healing would be the problem if you used only one monk and the same with sabs builds.

I don't see why this would not be possible in NM. If you are going top try this i would suggest using a mind blast/rodgorts nuker instead of SF, you could equip Glyph of sacrifice and MS and just disable them and use manually when you encounter monk groups.

The only problem i can see with the Minion bomber would be the part with the undead mob's, i don't think they leave exploitable corpses do they?

If i was going to do this i would proably run

warrior or dervish
monk
ele or necro

If you are playing rit i would suggest splinter weapon, wailing weapon, ancestors rage and maybe a few resto spells to help the monk out.

I may give this a try later when i get a chance, let us know how you get on, good luck.

Seems like a good idea. I am curious though if you could bring 2 people + 6 heroes to farm the entire fow (for the title/ chest). What would be a decent setup for that too?

Guessing a bunch of sf nukers would do fine with 2 monks or 1 monk and me on my paragon for protective shouts.

Well it is very easy to do Fow with 2 people and 6 heroes especially if you are running a paragon. Just take Save youreslves and TNTF and you will roll everything. Personally I would use something like

1 melee(probably a warrior)
2 necro(mm +ss)
2 monks
1 ele(mind blast+rodgorts)
though that would of course depend on what the second human player was running, but with something similiar to that team build you could rip through fow very quickly.

I have been testing a Warrior-Monk-Ele(mind blast/rodgorts as you suggested) team in the Domain of Secrets against some very FoW like mobs with some pretty good success. I am also going to see how this team holds up outside Temple of Ages in HM against the undead FoW like mobs as well.

And yes now that I think about it I have been outside Temple of Ages with Sab's necro team in HM and you are right the undead leave no corpses so there would be a problem running that team in FoW.

FOW NM is easy as hell. I run Sab's 3 necro build in a 4-man team and can get done tower of courage, beach and spider cave. For the rest of FOW, I need 2 extra players (can be hero/human).

I also tried FOW HM with a full team of 8 (2 humans, 6 heroes). It was easier than I thought. The spider cave is the only nasty place I can think of in HM when there is massive aggro.

We also did UW HM with full team of 8-man (2 humans, 6 heroes). It surely was funny when the tiny lvl12-13 minions were aggroing lvl30+ aatxe...lol. We cleared left side fully. Only trouble parts are the spiders with super-nukes. The war didn't even have obs flesh or ursan.

I still have not gone in FoW yet to test might do it today however from my testing in Domain of Secrets and outside Temple of Ages HM against FoW similar mobs I have found they tend to target the monk like he was bleeding and they are sharks.

So I switched to my N/RT healer from Sab's 3 Necro build and went half heal half damage on my Rit where I spawn spam lots of spirits, 2 damage, 2 heal, 1 interrupt. This healing combination for me is far superior to just a monk or monk with my Rit going half heal. Plus they do not hammer the N/RT near as much as they did the monk instead they tend to focus their attention on Koss a lot more which is perfect.

So I would suggest trying a N/Rt, Paragon/other or Rt/other as a healer not a monk against these mobs.

The other improvement I was able to make was after switching my hero nuker to a mind blast/rodgorts mark/rodgarts invo build was give all heroes fire damage weapons thus giving rodgorts mark casts some extra damage.

I have not had a chance to try it either.

Re the N/rt, it is a good build but i woud be tempted to go with a rt/mo or rt/me instead, there are enough hexes down there for hex removal to be an issue.

Intressting topic. I'm also considering doing it. My current main char is an ele. so I was thinking of:
Warrior (Cold War skill setup)
Paragon (Healing-ish setup)
Monk (Protection/interrupt setup)
Ele (Me as Fire Nuker)
Will give it a bash and let you know if i could do all the missions.

I did a 1 man 3 hero FoW run and it is doable, it just takes a long time I was in there almost 4 hours but cleared a bunch and did some quests including army of darkness and took out the bone dragons here are some pics;

I did get a little further than the map shows, I went in to the Hydra and Walker area did ok but the Walkers take forever due to their super healing powers.

I would still be in there but I went to do the "kill the Banshees" quest and bring back the Griffins to get rid of the DP on my heroes. The N/RT is great until it gets some DP then not so good. Anyway I completely forgot about new spawns after you grab the Griffins and ran right in to a big one, got killed before I could do any thing.

I also forgot to grab consumables from storage before I went in they may have help speed up my run just a bit.

The only major problems I did have aside from the walkers were large dual monk mobs other than that it was a nice challenge with lots of flagging and careful pulls.

The drops sucked, I did not get any thing from those quest completion reward boxes, I got seven blues drops, one purple, no golds and only one stinking shard the rest was white crap. However after I sold the stuff, except the shard, I made about 4k after entrance fee so got a little something out of it besides the fun of doing something we are not really supposed to be able to.

I think the best thing about 4 manning today was there were no ragers, leavers, or whiners the whole run and I can't remember the last time I was in FoW when there wasn't.

Also I blocked out my build and game name on purpose. It is a shame to have to be so paranoid to share builds/team builds anymore especially once you have worked out good one. I don't want to even share my IGN for fear of them watching me and nukeing my build. Anet is already going to nerft the N/Rt healer next update I just don't want them to get any other ideas.

thinking this could be done with sabs necro build if you ran something with a high DPS like a para or sin or war...just my thought..may try it later see if my thought is sane or not ^^

can be done with necro healer, ele nuker, splinter barrage (me), and a MM..worked nicely got a few quests done before i got bored and went on an aggro run!

I imagine Paragons would help a great deal here. With a player paragon with "There's Nothing To Fear!" and a command shout setup and then two motivation chanters like this:
[card]Spear Of Lightning[/card][card]Disrupting Throw[/card][card]Mending Refrain[/card][card]Chorus Of Restoration[/card][card]Energizing Chorus[/card][card]Song Of Restoration[/card][card]Ballad Of Restoration[/card][card]Signet Of Return[/card]
[card]Barbed Spear[/card][card]Energizing Chorus[/card][card]Finale Of Restoration[/card][card]Chorus Of Restoration[/card][card]Aegis[/card][card]Holy Veil[/card][card]Soldier's Fury[/card][card]Signet Of Return[/card]

Maybe a mes hero for interupts aswell, or something like a dervish order hero to up the DPS.
My reasoning is that Paragons provide the best unstrippable bonuses you can get, and they become pretty much unstoppable in larger numbers.

I tried to do FoW with heroes, i took Olias (SS, not MM), Dunkoro (ZB, i haven't unlock WoH yet.) and Koss (Dwarven Battle Stance for interrupts). I played Dervish.

Shadow army was such easy, just some DPS problems with monks but when Koss put DBS on everything went down I cleared about half shadow army without any problems (some microing was needed with Dunkoro, why the hell he don't use ZB for himself?) unless I didn't notice one patrol. Koss aggroed that patrol and in a second dunkoro had 4 warriors attacking him. There was three monks, and as i said, our DPS wasn't very good.

Althought, trip was very funny and I'm going to try it again with WoH-dunkoro and i think i'm going to take Zhed, not Koss. And i will held some interrupts to Olias.

Instead of making new thread just bumping this one up. I was wondering, what would be a great set up for 1 mesmer character and 1 paragon character (both human players) the rest heroes be for clearing this the easiest/ fastest.

I am playing the paragon and have save yourselves, there's nothing to fear etc. to spam them. Mesmer I am assuming would be something along the lines of domination shatter hex/ maybe ursan?

How should I set up the 6 heroes inorder to easily deal with everything else in fow for the chest and title.

1 Mind blast ele,
1 MM
2 SS
2 N/rt healers
1 Defensive anthem paragon
1 Splinter barrage

Me and my friend managed to do 5 quests in HM fow with heros. Wiped due to overagro. We could have cleared whole FoW.

Just curious, what would a mind blast ele bar look like? I haven't really set up any fire ele skill bar for heroes besides sf.

I finished fow with another person and heroes the other using: [skill]Volley[/skill][skill]Called Shot[/skill][skill]Savage Shot[/skill][skill]Distracting Shot[/skill][skill]Ebon Dust Aura[/skill][skill]Conviction[/skill][skill]Mystic Regeneration[/skill][skill]Vital Boon[/skill]

I was singly able to shut down all non spell casters, while busying myself with interrupting. Made a fairly straightforward area trivial I don't think a hero would be smart enough to keep blind on everything though.

This is slightly off-topic but using an Ursan and a modded version of Sab's necromancers I was able to clear the forgotten Vale, the Labrynth, most of twin serpent, and the Ice Wastes. Looking at the quests and it looks like I could probably clear all of them except Servants of Grenth and The Four Horsemen pretty easily.
